What do we do?

We meet on a monthly basis to discuss our current activities, identify new ideas for future research and plan collaborations and funding applications. We collaborate with other departments and research groups both at the University of Hertfordshire, nationally and internationally to produce high quality research. We disseminate our research findings widely. We include and work together with people living with musculoskeletal conditions in our research. We support clinicians who are keen to become active researchers and NHS Trusts and groups to evaluate and improve care. We supervise post-graduate research students and help people after they have been awarded their PhDs to progress their careers. Members of the team serve on trial steering committees, peer review grant applications, submissions to journals and guidelines, are associate editors for international peer review journals and review ethics submissions, Members of the team are also members of professional committees such as the CSP’s Scientific Panel and support professional networks, for example by assisting the development of the ACPIVR national frameworks for its education strategy and for physiotherapists working within vestibular and balance system health care.

Although we are predominantly a musculoskeletal research unit, we consider collaborations and requests from other areas of physiotherapy, rehabilitation and physical activity. We do not have any funded PhD positions currently available (we will update this page when any become available).
