Neurodivergency project

The University of Hertfordshire (Catherine Minns Lowe, Andrea Moulson, and Karen Beeton), in collaboration with Meredith Newman and Natasha Owusu from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, have recently completed research exploring being neurodivergent within the physiotherapy workforce. As part of this research we worked with research participants and Nifty Fox Creative to develop materials to show the findings or our research.

Below are an animation video and an infographic which show the findings of our research. We are keen that as many people see these findings as possible as participants in our research told us there is a lack of understanding and awareness of this topic. Please feel free to download or share these materials. Please acknowledge the research as follows: Minns Lowe CJ, Moulson A, Newman M, Owusu N, Beeton K. Neurodivergency in the physiotherapy profession. https://msk-research-unit.herts.ac.uk/neurodivergency-project/ If you would like this information in other accessible formats please let Catherine know and she will look into this for you (email Catherine at c.j.minnslowe@herts.ac.uk).

We are really grateful for all the help given by participants in this study – THANK YOU.

This video explores the experiences of neurodivergent physiotherapists, students and support workers, highlighting challenges, inclusivity, and support within the UK physiotherapy workforce.

This infographic highlights the experiences of neurodivergent individuals in the physiotherapy profession, based on research from the University of Hertfordshire. It explores the barriers they face, the benefits of inclusive environments, and practical steps teams can take to support neurodivergent colleagues. Let’s foster open conversations and create a more inclusive profession.
