Our main aim for the Musculoskeletal Research Unit is to contribute high-quality research which leads to improving our knowledge and understanding of MSK conditions and improving the care for people living with these conditions. Our research is person-centred and across all health care settings (including community, primary care, secondary and tertiary care in the NHS, independent and private health care etc). We aim to:
• Encourage people to be physically active and, where possible, prevent people developing disability associated with their musculoskeletal condition/s
• Reduce disability and improve/maintain the quality of life for people diagnosed and living with existing musculoskeletal conditions and/or multi-morbidities. This includes increasing our understanding of MSK conditions from the perspective of people living with them.
• Improve the provision of individualised and person-centred care across all healthcare settings, including people living with MSK conditions
• Improve our understanding regarding the pathoaetiology associated with the development of musculoskeletal conditions
• Assist the development of the physiotherapy profession by providing research into professional development
